Magnae Deus potentiae,
qui ex aquis ortum genus
partim remittis gurgiti,
partim levas in aera.
Demersa lymphis imprimens,
subvecta caelis irrogans,
ut, stirpe una prodita,
diversa repleant loca:
Largire cunctis servulis,
quos mundat unda sanguinis,
nescire lapsus criminum,
nec ferre mortis taedium.
Ut culpa nullum deprimat,
nullum levet iactantia,
elisa mens ne concidat,
elata mens ne corruat.
Praesta, Pater piissime,
Patrique compar Unice,
cum Spiritu Paraclito
regnans per omne saeculum. Amen.
O God of mighty pow’r, who made
One race from waters to arise,
Returning some into the deep,
And lifting some into the skies,
The lower setting into streams,
The higher sending to the sky,
That they, born from a single source,
Two different realms might occupy:
On all your servants, washed and saved
In blood and water, grace bestow,
That none give in and fall in sin,
Or loathsome dying undergo.
Let guilt no child of yours bring low,
No one by pride be lifted high.
The broken heart may tumble down;
The mind exalted, fall and die.
Most gracious Father, equal Son,
Grant us the grace that we implore,
Who, with the Spirit Paraclete,
Rule over all for evermore. Amen.
